what coffee and technology have in common November 11, 2007

they are indulgences in life that can become an addiction. i’m not saying it’s good or bad, i’m just saying it like i see it.

i’m not usually the first to know the latest gadgets.  nor to own them.

i’m content with my dell laptop and my free (and cheap) cellphone.

but since i finally joined the bandwagon by starting a blog, there is a little techbug on my shoulder pushing me forward.

i signed up for facebook yesterday.

i’m hooked.  who tagged me? who are my friends?  who wrote on my wall? who have i not talked to or seen in 5 or 10 years that i can reconnect with? facebook is so simple, yet has a profound effect on people’s lives.  it sucks you in.

i just have to laugh.  what could possibly be next for this simple-minded, low-tech chick?

Michael James Nedelisky (my father)

1996- Inducted to the Hall of Fame at Lewis & Clark College
1978- Drafted in 17th round by Pittsburg Pirates
1978- Played for Alaska Goldpanners baseball team in Fairbanks Alaska
1977- Pitcher for Sports Ambassadors baseball team to Central America
1977- College NAIA All-American pitcher for Lewis & Clark College

My dad loves baseball. When faced with the decision to start a family while on the road or quit ball to “settle down”, he chose to leave his dream and start a family in one place. I can’t imagine how tough a decision that was for him and my mom. Now, he is again living a part of that dream by running a non-profit organization called GRIP International. He and my mom (and youngest sister) moved to Mexico to start a baseball league. Their mission: giving hope, reaching families, inspiring kids, praying and playing together.
