a grown-up blog

When I started blogging, I wasn’t sure what would actually take place here.  I am not online much, really only as long as it takes me to check email (okay facebook now too), a quick check for blaring news (which sadly I tend to overlook, even though I truly to want to be more knowledgable about what is going in the world, even if it’s only a cliffnotes version), and any research I may be doing for whatever my current project is (moms’ group, kids ministry, npo work, family stuff etc.)

That being said, my blog is fairly pathetic when it comes to meaningful content.  What I post is meaningful to me, and maybe a handful of friends, but when I say pathetic, I mean it’s quite lean.  Then I discovered, since I will begin working at my church again in January that the word is out a little more about my blog.  YIKES!  I better step it up.  So all this to say: my blog will never be a super-power in the blogsphere, but I do hope to post a little more than just random bragnotes about my kids. I had the chance to be lazy for the past year and half, now it’s time to utilize it a little more.  And hopefully it will help me practice my communication skills since I will be talking to adults everyday at work instead of babbling with my babies 24/7.

It won’t be a grown-up blog, but hopefully it will be a little improved, and mainly- updated more frequently. :) stay tuned.

Josiah- one month old

Those of you who are parents of multiples- and who are not my friend Andrea (or other super power mothers/fathers)- will understand why I haven’t blogged recently.  Josiah is one month old today, and it feels as if he has been with us for MUCH longer.  I say that in good ways, and tired ways…dsc01463

What I can tell you so far:  Josiah has 2 great dimples, you can see them when he smiles and when he talks to Ezra- which he likes to do when Ezra is snuggling up to him- which Ezra does at least 20 times a day.  Josiah knows the difference between night and day (thankfully) but does like to wake mom and dad up every three hours to eat and sometimes doesn’t like to go back to sleep for a while after he eats.  Daddy is getting very good at patiently putting him back to sleep.  That’s the other thing…he won’t fall asleep anywhere but in someone’s arms or in motion.  When he is fussy, which is a lot, we have found the only place to really calm him down quickly is on an exercise ball.  Lots of core workouts for Cor and I.  Corey just informed me that Josiah weighs about 12.7 pounds right now.  Are babies suppose to gain 3 pounds in 1 month?  Josiah likes to bounce, rock, swing, sway…basically he wants to constantly move.  Thankfully he does sleep in his bed as well.  We had to move him out of the bassinet already because he also likes to wiggle and move around in bed.  We’ve found him several times with his face planted against the edge of the bassinet- we’ve moved into more temporary housing- the play pen- until it’s time to move to the crib and put Ezra in a toddler bed (Lord, have mercy!!!) In addition to wiggling, Josiah loves to be on his tummy (sleeping and awake) and can move his head side to side quite a bit- he has had a very strong neck from day one (only those of you in child development will find that last tidbit interesting).

I don’t get a lot done during the day.  While chasing after Ezra, teaching his quick and curious brain, and giving lots of love, rebuke, and correction, I am pretty much always holding Josiah too.  My arms and legs are getting quite the workout.  Yes, I am tired…but I’ve had so many people reaching out to help…it’s been encouraging.  Thank you- you know who you are.
